Picofino Alicante 2019, smooth with herbal notes and easy drinking
From the winemaker- “Dark cherry red in color with some violet hues. Forest fruits on the nose such as blackberries and strawberries with some hints of eucalyptus and liquorice. Smooth on the palate with sweet, mature tannins. Balanced acidity and freshness make this an enjoyable easy drinking style."
Picofino is 100% Monastrell from estate grapes grown organically (with some biodynamic techniques) in Villena, Alicante, Spain, on sandy-saline soils. The grapes are manually harvested followed by a strict selection process. The grapes are then cold soaked for 3 days. 1/3 of the grapes go through whole cluster carbonic maceration and fermentation with native yeasts. The rest is macerated and spontaneously fermented with skins and seeds for 7 days. The wine is bottled unfined, unfiltered, and without sulfites.
