Margins Skin Fermented Chenin Blanc, a real treat and hard to get
Summer Sale!
Chenin is one of my favorite grapes, and the skin contact really makes an intense and lovely twist on the noble variety. Destemmed and fermented on skins for 25 days, and aged in neutral oak before bottling. The time on skins brings out savory and herbaceous notes in the Chenin - a salty and mineral-driven, delicately 'orange' wine with texture and balance.
Grapes are hand harvested, all ambient yeasts for the ferment, no filtering or fining, and all neutral oak vessels. A small sulfite dose for stability is the only thing added.
Margins Description:
"Margins Wine produces low-intervention wines using grapes from underrepresented regions, vineyards, and varietals. We are part of the growing movement in California to make wines from organically farmed vineyards using little to no additives during the winemaking process, thereby showcasing the vineyards the grapes came from.
Much like people living on the ‘margins of society,’ vineyards can be outcasts too. Most consumers of wine are only familiar with a handful of grapegrowing regions and types of wine. Margins draws attention to vineyards and varietals throughout northern and central California that find themselves on the margins without the recognition they deserve." - Zev Rovine
