Inconnu Los Carneros Merlot from a badass woman winemaker in Napa
All work was done by hand by winemaker Laura Brennan Bissel-no mechanical sorting, no glycol temperature control, no complex filtration, no off-the-shelf additives, and no input from consulting oenologists. Like everything she makes, this is a hands-off, one-woman wine.
The Merlot vines come from a single vineyard that's west-facing and are planted in "gumbo" soils which, in Carneros, is a mix of clay and loam. Aged in a mix of neutral and second use oak barrels of varying sizes. A must with food at the table as the acidity and earthy nature work so well together.
